Hi, I’m Alia! The hands, hooks, needles, and occasionally tangled brain behind Hooked & Twisted.

I make things because apparently I’m incapable of leaving yarn alone and must always keep my hands busy.

What started as a love of crochet and knitting has turned into a growing collection of blankets, bags, hats, gloves, sweaters, and other wonderfully unnecessary things that I absolutely had to make. I’m particularly obsessed with intricate patterns, unexpected color combinations, and techniques that make me say, “Oh, I could probably figure that out.” (I usually do. Eventually.)

Hooked & Twisted is about handmade goods with personality. I love traditional fiber arts, but I don't necessarily want traditional-looking results. Give me a gorgeous mosaic pattern, a ridiculous color combination, a chunky bag, or a blanket that takes 150+ hours to finish and I’m happy.

Some pieces are carefully planned. Others begin with a skein of yarn that I really like and a questionable idea.

All of them are made by hand, one stitch at a time, with a healthy dose of coffee (or wine), music, creative obsession, and the occasional “well, I'm not ripping that back out.”

I make pieces to keep, pieces to wear, pieces to give, and pieces that I hope become part of someone else's story.
